Run a Demo Tournament

Running a Test Tournament with Fake Players/Teams

If you want to practice running tournaments, test different formats, or learn how Scoreholio works without involving real players, you can import fake players or teams and run a full test event. This is a great way to explore scoring, bracketing, court flow, and tournament management without affecting real stats.

Subscription Requirement

The fake player import feature requires an Advanced Level subscription. If you're new to Scoreholio and want to demo the app, contact us through Live Chat and let us know—you can be temporarily upgraded so you can test the full feature set.

How to Run a Test Tournament

1. Create a Private Tournament

When creating your test event, set to PRIVATE. This prevents the tournament from appearing on the Find a Tournament list where players look for live events.

2. Import Fake Players or Teams

  1. Go to Run a Tournament and open your list of tournaments.

  2. Select the tournament you created and tap Admin.

  3. In the Admin screen, click the green “More Options” button.

  4. Select Import.

  5. On the Import screen:

    • Change the second dropdown to “Fake Players for a Test Tournament.”

    • Use the third dropdown to choose the type of fake players or teams you want to import.

  6. Highlight the players/teams you want from the list.

  7. Tap Import Selected Teams.

Once imported, you can run your test tournament exactly like a real one. Fake players will progress through matches, letting you experiment freely with formats, settings, scoring, and court flow—without affecting real player stats.

Tips for Team Management

Managing teams in Scoreholio becomes much easier once you get comfortable clicking around to see what options appear. Most actions will trigger a pop-up with choices, so don’t be afraid to explore!

Here are a few helpful tips to make team adjustments smooth and stress-free:

  • Rearranging players on teams: After you’ve added fake teams or players, scroll down to your list of teams. (This works even if your tournament is set to Singles.) Click on a player on a team— if it’s a Singles tournament, click the single player. on their own team. Select “Remove player from team” to bump that player up to the Sub/Unassigned Players list.

  • Adding a new player manually: In the Add a Player section, enter the player’s first and last name (email is optional). Make sure their placement is set to Unassigned Player/Sub. Then scroll to the Unassigned/Sub list, find the player you added, click their name, and move them to the team you want.

This workflow helps with handling subs, making manual adjustments, or fixing teams on the fly.

You can also add players to a tournament in other ways, including importing a spreadsheet, which is a great option for larger events or pre-registration lists.
