Court Blocking

πŸ›‘ Court Blocking Options in Scoreholio

Scoreholio gives organizers the flexibility to block teams from playing on the same court consecutively or from playing on the same court more than once during the entire tournament.

βš™οΈ How to Enable Court Blocking

You can configure these settings in two places:

  • When creating a new tournament:

    • On the Create New, scroll down to the Advanced section

    • Toggle one or both options:

      • βœ… Back-to-back same court

      • βœ… Block all same courts

  • For an existing tournament:

    • Go to Admin > Options > Manage Courts

    • Use the same toggles to enable or disable blocking

🚫 Exceptions & Limitations

  • Switcholio Round Robin: Court blocking is not available during the round robin portion of a Switcholio tournament.

  • Time-Based Set Schedules: If you’re using a time-based schedule, court blocking will not be respected during auto-generation.

  • Small Court Warning: Court blocking is not recommended if your tournament uses a small number of courts. Example: You have 3 courts and block back-to-back use. If court 2 is busy, teams that just played on courts 1 and 3 will be stuck waiting β€” even if courts 1 or 3 are now free.

🏐 Works Across All Sports

Court blocking functions on all sports within Scoreholio β€” cornhole, pickleball, darts, and more.

πŸŽ‰ Creative Uses

Some organizers run theme-based tournaments where each court has a unique theme (e.g., "Disco Court", "Silent Court", etc.). By enabling the no repeat courts option, they ensure each team plays on every court at least once.

⚠️ Final Tip

If you notice your tournament stops auto-assigning courts, it may be due to overly restrictive blocking. In that case:

  1. Go to Admin > Options > Manage Courts

  2. Turn off court blocking

  3. Use Advance Game button to keep things moving
