# ScoreMagic - Cornhole

## *Bag tracking made Easy Peasy.*

What can be the most confusing part of scoring in cornhole? The process of figuring out what you scored vs what your opponent scored and then combining those for net scoring. Well we at Scoreholio thought this was something we could help with. And since we never do anything the basic way, we thought that we should add some MAGIC!!

### **The Idea:**

The sport of cornhole has 3 options for scoring:

0 points for a bag off the board

1 point for a bag on the board

3 points for a bag in the hole

With each player only throwing 4 bags, that gives us a range of points to be scored from 0 -12 per round.

After looking at the possibilities, a hypothesis began to emerge. Could you calculate what combinations of bags were thrown based off of the round score?

Well you can, and that is where the *Magic* happens!

### **The Possibilities:**

| Round Score | Bags IN | Bags ON | Bags OFF | | Bags IN | Bags ON | Bags OFF |
| ----------- | ------- | ------- | -------- | - | ------- | ------- | -------- |
| 0           | 0       | 0       | 0        |   |         |         |          |
| 1           | 0       | 1       | 3        |   |         |         |          |
| 2           | 0       | 2       | 2        |   |         |         |          |
| 3           | 0       | 3       | 1        |   | 1       | 0       | 3        |
| 4           | 0       | 4       | 0        |   | 1       | 1       | 2        |
| 5           | 1       | 2       | 1        |   |         |         |          |
| 6           | 1       | 3       | 0        |   | 2       | 0       | 2        |
| 7           | 2       | 1       | 1        |   |         |         |          |
| 8           | 2       | 2       | 0        |   |         |         |          |
| 9           | 3       | 0       | 1        |   |         |         |          |
| 10          | 3       | 1       | 0        |   |         |         |          |
| 12          | 4       | 0       | 0        |   |         |         |          |

As you can see from the table above, you can track what bags were thrown based off the round scores for the following: 0-1-2-5-7-8-9-10-12.

Note: there is NO way to throw an 11 for the round.

For scores 3-4-6 there are two possibilities for how the bags are tracked. However, you can easily see which combination it was based on how many bags were in the hole.

### **The Build:**

We had the idea and all the possible outcomes, it was time to start building the Magic. All we needed to know was what each player scored, we built scoremagic with one team on each side of the scoreboard.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.scoreholio.com/guides/scoremagic-cornhole.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
