"None shall pass" Restrict pre-registration with sport specific restrictions

Restrictions on Pre-Registration

An organizer can implement restrictions to regulate and manage the pre-registration process for tournaments. These restrictions are primarily based on performance metrics and membership status to ensure fair and equitable participation. The following guidelines outline how these restrictions are applied:

  1. Performance Metrics:

    • Rating Thresholds: Players may be required to meet a minimum or maximum rating threshold to qualify for pre-registration. This ensures that participants have demonstrated a certain level of skill or experience relevant to the tournament's competitive standards.

    • SPR Restriction (All sports except Pickleball): Restrict by a players Scoreholio Player Rating

    • PPR and DPR (Cornhole and Horseshoes): Restrict by 120 day points per round or differential per round

    • DUPR Singles or DUPR Doubles (Pickleball Only): Restrict by a players DUPR rating

    • Seasons Tier: Restrict by a players Scoreholio Season Tier Value (Season must be assigned to the tournament)

  2. Membership Status:

Scoreholio Seasons Membership Tiers

  • Restricted Pre-registration: Some tournaments may restrict pre-registration to members of specific tiers or levels within an organizations Season.

  • Community Engagement: This approach fosters community involvement and encourages active membership participation.

  • Configuration: Set your Season Membership Tier value in your Season Admin settings.

Linked DUPR Account (Pickleball Only)

  • Pre-registration Requirement: Pre-registration may be limited to players whose Scoreholio player accounts are linked to DUPR.

  • Account Status: Players must have current and valid DUPR accounts in good standing at the time of registration.

Implementation and Communication

Scoreholio organizers are responsible for configuring and communicating these restrictions effectively. This includes:

  • Configuration: Setting up restrictions through the Scoreholio App or website during tournament creation. Turn on Pre-registration and then use the Restrictions drop down

  • Communication: Clearly outlining the pre-registration criteria on tournament announcements, websites, and registration forms.

  • Enforcement: When a player attempts to register scoreholio will outline the restrictions for the tournament and show a player if they meet or are restricted from pre-registering.

Set Teams Pre-Registration

Set Teams Pre-registration

Overview

The Set Teams Pre-registration process allows for the organization of teams based on average stats when setting up your tournament. This ensures balanced teams by averaging the stats of all team members and checking them against the tournament's specified restrictions.

Configuration

  1. Team Composition:

    • Set your tournament to accept teams of 2, 3, or 4 players.

    • The system will use the average stats of all players on the team to determine eligibility.

  2. Setting Restrictions:

    • Define the minimum and maximum restriction ranges based on the average stats of the team.

    • For example, if your tournament has a minimum restriction of 50 SPR (Scoreholio Player Rating) and a maximum restriction of 60 SPR, the team's average SPR must fall within this range.

  3. Calculation:

    • The average stats are calculated by summing the stats of all team members and dividing by the number of players on the team.

    • Example: In a tournament with a minimum SPR of 50 and a maximum SPR of 60, a player with an SPR of 40 can team up with a player with an SPR of 70 because the average SPR ( (40 + 70) / 2 ) equals 55, which falls within the allowed range.

Example Scenario

  • Step 1: Configure your tournament team generation to Set Teams.

  • Step 2: Set the restriction range, for example, a minimum SPR of 50 and a maximum SPR of 60.

First Player Rule

Overview

The First Player Rule governs the initial registration process for the Set Team tournament. This rule ensures that individual players can register independently of team restrictions, with team validation occurring only when team formation begins.

Details

  1. Initial Registration:

    • When a player signs up for the Set Team tournament, they are permitted to register regardless of whether they fall within the minimum and maximum restriction requirements.

    • This allows players to enter the tournament without the immediate need to meet team composition criteria.

  2. Team Formation:

    • The system will enforce team restrictions during the team formation phase.

    • When the first player attempts to add a partner or when a partner tries to join an existing team, the system will check the combined team's compliance with the specified restriction range.

  3. Restriction Range Compliance:

    • The restriction range includes both minimum and maximum criteria that teams must meet.

    • The system ensures that the team adheres to these criteria before finalizing the team formation.

Example Scenario

  • Step 1: Player A signs up for the tournament. The system allows this registration without checking the restriction range.

  • Step 2: Player A invites Player B to join their team. At this point, the system checks if the combined team of Player A and Player B falls within the restriction range.

  • Step 3: If the combined team meets the restrictions, Player B successfully joins the team. If not, Player B cannot join until the team complies with the restriction requirements.
